New and enhanced care management solutions are available in 2010 to help your organization drive efficiency. Evidence-based Milliman Care Guidelines® software and product offerings expand in support of your team's goals to automate processes, increase consistency, improve quality of care and enrich access to clinical content within your workflow.
Auto Authorization Tool:
This new CareWebQI®
interactive software module, due for release in late 2010, will create administrative efficiencies for both payors and providers by enabling web-based real-time, self-service access to medical necessity authorization.
Interrater Reliability Tool and Learning Management System:
The Interrater Reliability Tool uses realistic test
cases and multiple-choice tests to determine whether clients
are using guidelines properly. This tool, and more than
20 On Demand Training modules, now reside within the
comprehensive web-based Learning Management
System platform.
CareWebQI Enhancements:
Version 1.9 of this
interactive software added a new optionally licensed Medical
Management Module, which includes a work queue; task
list; medical director review support; and more. Reportable
Present on Admission flags and enhanced quality measure
reporting were also included. Version 2.0 adds an enhanced
Guideline Modification Module and customizable drop downs.
More Chronic Care Guidelines Patient Handouts:
These handouts now total 277 in the 14th Edition. Suitable for
mailing or handing to patients, they are written in layperson's
language and are also available for license in Spanish.
Expanded Genetic Medicine, Referral and Other Ambulatory Guidelines:
Seventy-nine new Ambulatory Care guidelines provide broad authorization support for
challenging areas, such as prenatal genetic testing, genetic testing for cancer susceptibility and new chemotherapy
drugs. Other enhancements include diagnosis-specific normative rehabilitation visit data and evidence-based
specialist referral support.
Patient Information Package:
Available for license with the 14th Edition, this is linked within the Inpatient and Surgical
Care guidelines. It provides discharge and preoperative information, plus inpatient care plans written in layperson
language and suitable for patient, family, or caregiver.
Strategic Alliances and Certified Integrations:
Clients continue to increase workflow efficiency by taking advantage of certified integrations between CareWebQI and
leading vendors. From amongst 25 Strategic Alliance Partners, the following have certified integrations: ACS/MIDAS+,

while clicking on certain terms and concepts produces a box with their definitions. Finally, the Clinical Indications include
collapsible bullets, with secondary indications hidden under primary until they are clicked to expand.

With the 14th Edition, users may access updates and expansions throughout the year, including Utilization Models and Statistical
Companions. More detailed information; downloadable Excel files; guideline, code, assistant surgeon and DRG crossreference
