Milliman Care Guidelines® products are developed and supported by healthcare professionals with extensive Medicaid experience. More than 1,900 clients use the Care Guidelines®, including managed Medicaid plans, state Medicaid plans and Quality Improvement Organizations. The Care Guidelines® address many of the healthcare issues seen among Medicaid populations:

  • Special needs of mothers and childrenCare Guidelines® products include pediatric guidelines and information on children with special needs, prematurity, vaccinations, well-child care, obstetrics and more.
  • Chronic conditions and patient materials -- The Chronic Care Guidelines product covers 24 chronic conditions, such as diabetes, HIV/AIDS and high-risk pregnancy, and includes patient education materials written at a fourth-grade reading level in English or Spanish.
  • Psychosocial factors – Specific tools and assessments address factors that may affect the patient's recovery, including home safety, coping and cognitive abilities, cultural influences, socioeconomic status, and more.
  • Behavioral health – The Behavioral Health Guidelines product covers five levels of care and specific psychological, behavioral, and pharmacologic therapies for 15 diagnosis groups, including ADD, schizophrenia, and substance abuse.
  • Complex cases – The General Recovery Guidelines product helps manage cases when there is no clear diagnosis, no specific guideline covering the diagnosis, or when the clinical situation is so complex that a specific guideline doesn't fit.
