General Recovery Guidelines
The General Recovery Guidelines provide expanded decision support for management of comorbidities, multiple illnesses, or unclear diagnoses. They also provide reliable guidance for clinical situations so complex that another guideline cannot easily be applied. The General Recovery Guidelines are also ideal for those circumstances in which there are no other Care Guidelines to address a specific diagnosis.
Provide your team with these advantages:
- Efficiently manage multiple diagnoses
- Effectively address comorbidities and complex patients
- Access long term acute care guidelines
- Provide coverage where Inpatient and Surgical Care does not
- Determine admission based upon symptoms or diagnoses
The General Recovery Guidelines are only available to Inpatient and Surgical Care clients and must be licensed separately.

Important Information About the Milliman Care Guidelines: The Care Guidelines can be used by qualified, healthcare professionals as a tool in making medical necessity decisions, but they should not be used as the sole basis for denying coverage of payment. The Care Guidelines must be applied to the individual patient on a case-by-case basis and always in the context of a qualified, healthcare professional’s clinical judgment.
