Milliman Care Guidelines Joins National Quality Forum
SEATTLE — August 9, 2005 — Milliman Care Guidelines® has joined the National Quality Forum (NQF), a not-for-profit organization created to develop and implement a national strategy for health care quality measurement and reporting. Garrett Foulke, MD, MMM, is the Milliman Care Guidelines representative to the NQF.
Established as a public-private partnership, the NQF has broad participation from all parts of the health care system, including national, state, regional, and local groups representing consumers, public and private purchasers, employers, health care professionals, provider organizations, health plans, accrediting bodies, labor unions, supporting industries, and organizations involved in health care research or quality improvement.
Milliman Care Guidelines seeks to incorporate NQF’s accepted standard metrics into its evidence-based materials. Milliman Care Guidelines also believes the NQF can play a critical role in the advancement and awareness of quality-driven metrics throughout the healthcare community.
Dr. Foulke represents Milliman Care Guidelines as a member of the NQF Provider and Health Plan Council. “We chose to participate in the Provider and Health Plan Council because we share their vision of common standards of care guidance for the healthcare community. We at Milliman Care Guidelines look forward to contributing to the NQF-endorsed standards to improve health care in the United States, and are pleased to help support the NQF in their mission” said Foulke.
According to NQF President and CEO Kenneth Kizer in his May 11 report to the Board of Directors, NQF is a leading organizational driver in the development of hospital quality measures and has worked closely with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in the development of the hospital quality standards that are now required reporting. Visit the NQF on the Web at www.qualityforum.org.
