CMS Awards Milliman Care Guidelines Contract to Support Medicare Initiatives
Buccaneer Computer Systems and Services Inc. (Buccaneer) will administer a contract with Milliman Care Guidelines on behalf of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the use of its evidence based guidelines. Through this agreement, Medicare Fiscal Intermediaries (FIs), Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) and Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs) now have access to the entire suite of Milliman Care Guidelines products plus historical guidelines to support their utilization and quality review functions.
CMS contractors will have access to Milliman Care Guidelines products spanning the continuum of care, including the Ambulatory Care, Inpatient and Surgical Care, General Recovery Guidelines, Recovery Facility Care, Home Care, and Behavioral Health Guidelines products, and the CareWebQI® interactive tools, enabling reviewers to identify variances and clearly document decisions during reviews.
Milliman Care Guidelines LLC, A Milliman Company, is located in Seattle, and independently develops and produces evidence-based clinical guidelines and software used by more than 1,700 clients, including more than 950 hospitals, and seven of the eight largest US health plans. Covering the continuum of care, the seven-product Care Guidelines series is updated annually by an experienced team of clinicians and is used to support the care management of a majority of Americans.
