Clinical trainers will present interactive training on how to interpret and apply key Care Guidelines content. Inpatient reviewers will benefit from the Inpatient and Surgical Care and General Recovery Guidelines session. Ambulatory Care users will focus on how to use the authorization content to manage outpatient services. The Recovery Facility Care and Home Care session will address basic training on managing patients receiving care in the skilled nursing and home care settings. We will use hands-on application of case studies to reinforce training topics, and distribute job aids to meet long-term resource needs. Attend the entire five-hour session, or select product sessions that are most applicable to your role.

Clinical trainers will deliver hands-on CareWebQI functionality training. We will focus on how to apply Inpatient and Surgical Care and General Recovery Guidelines within CareWebQI. Attendees will have the opportunity to walk through basic case studies, documenting Clinical Indications for Admission and progression using the Optimal Recovery Course. We also will review more advanced cases, including how to document Extended Stay and how to review multiple guidelines within a CareWebQI episode. We will distribute job aids and other training resources to support users’ long-term learning needs.

We will cover how to effectively use Care Guidelines in setting the context for medical decision-making; understanding the relationship between Care Guidelines, “medical necessity,” and benefits exclusions; and communication techniques to achieve a successful outcome for medical director exception review. We will discuss using the Care Guidelines for complex case reviews.
